Omer William Madison Floyd, 86, Newtown, died at Home Hospital, Lafayette, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1986 at 9:22 p.m. He was born in Bloomingdale, July 6, 1900. He was raised in Parke County, had formerly lived in Benton County and had been a resident of Newtown for the past 10 years. He was married Feb. 12, 1921, at Covington, to Ethel M. Shoaf, who survives. He attended School No. 5 in Parke County. He was former manager of Kerr Farms, Newtown, for several years and had also worked at Harrison Steel Castings Co., Attica, as a crane operator in the yards. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Newtown, of which he was a deacon and trustee for several years. He was a member of Modern Woodman Lodge. Surviving, besides his wife, are one son, William J. Floyd, attica; on sister, Mrs. Ethel Sowers, Indianapolis; on brother, Ray Floyd, Rockville; three grandchildren, Steve Floyd, Sandy Moreno and Debbie Manges; three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Geraldine Hambert, and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Friday) at the Mau Funeral Home Chapel, Attica, with the Revs. Harry Hybarger and Douglas McCord officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Hopewell Baptist Church memorial fund.
